Utility Worker Nutrition - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Utility Associate maintains cleanliness and sanitize all pots, pans, utensils, and equipment parts in a timely manner. This position is also responsible for putting away deliveries in a timely manner.
Essential Job Functions
Utility
Ensure the general order and cleanliness of the kitchen, dining room, storeroom, cafe, Nutrition offices and Nutrition Break Room to include sweeping and mopping.
Follow proper procedures when putting away deliveries, labeling and dating products, and breaking down boxes.
Keep all towels and soap dispensers clean and stocked throughout the shift.
Transport ice from the ice machine to the front end (drink counter) and to the salad counter as needed.
Maintain temperature log using T-sticks or recommended thermometer.
Dish/Pot Washing
Clean and return all pots, pans, dinnerware, flatware, trays, storage containers, other items, utensils, and equipment in a timely manner, following CNS standards and policies.
Set up and maintain a 3-compartment sink. Change the water and maintain proper levels of chemical additives as needed to wash, rinse, and sanitize items properly. Check the soap supply and use a test strip to be sure that the correct amount of sanitizing agent is present.
Maintain a clean dish machine and monitor soap and rinse additive supplies. Replenish dishes and dry trays to the counter in a timely manner.
Cleanliness & Sanitation
Follow standardized cleaning, safety, and sanitation procedures. Practice the “clean-as-you-go” philosophy.
Maintain floor and traffic areas by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and spot cleaning.
Follow departmental closing procedures.
Perform daily cleaning assignments and assist with prep stock as needed.
Be sure every area has clean trash cans in place. Discard all trash and empty cardboard bins.
Communication
Effectively communicate supply and equipment issues to management in a timely manner.
Know the schedule and check with management before leaving.
Teamwork
Actively participate in daily huddles.
Assist other team members when necessary. Ask for help when necessary.
Assist management in any way conducive to the efficient operation of the facility.
Organization
Maintain organization throughout the shift in the work area.
Store all items in their designated labeled areas and eliminating clutter.
