The BASF Performance Materials business responds quickly to customer needs, without cutting corners to sacrifice safety or quality. The business services a wide range of customers in many different markets from automotive, construction, refrigeration, appliances, etc. The operators within the Clemson Site must adapt to change safely, quickly, and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality requirements. The Utility Technician is responsible for the operation of critical utilities equipment that supports the manufacturing of blended resin systems for foam applications to meet our customer needs.
**This role follows a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, providing approximately 13 to 14 days off each month due to the shift rotation.
**During your 12-hour shift as a Utility Technician, you will**
+ Be responsible for the operation, monitoring, and date collection of the steam generating equipment, the compressed air systems, the refrigeration equipment systems, the water filtration plant, and the wastewater treatment plant. Daily and shift inspections required.
+ Collect and test samples for various equipment such as boilers, cooling towers, water filtration systems, and wastewater systems. Add water treatment chemical as required.
+ Collect samples and conduct inspections for site environmental compliance programs such as stormwater.
+ Start, stop, and switch equipment as needed for production and maintenance. Lockout equipment for maintenance, as required.
+ Clean equipment, clarifiers, and filters in all areas of Utilities. Good housekeeping practices are expected.
+ Be an integral part of the site’s safety culture. Utility Technician will also be required to master a certain number of standard operating procedures and participate in several safety programs.
+ Need to be capable to understand EPA/OSHA requirements.
+ Need to have or be able to work towards having a wastewater certification by the State of South Carolina.
**If you...**
+ Possess a High School Diploma (2 Year technical degree preferred)
+ Have a valid driver license
+ Have good Communication Skills and a high level of attention to detail
+ Are able to lift at least 50lbs.
+ Able to obtain a wastewater certification by the State of South Carolina. (B license or higher preferred)
