Job Title: Utility Inspector

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Utility Inspector to join our team in replacing lead service lines with copper ones. This role involves inspecting water mains and other structures to ensure their structural soundness, safety, and compliance with code and regulations. The position requires excellent communication skills as you will interact with clients daily on their properties. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is also necessary.

ResponsibilitiesInspect water mains and other structures such as roads, dams, and bridges to determine structural soundness and compliance with regulations.Document inspection results, including deterioration, structural conditions, and deficiencies.Monitor construction progress and contribute to project status reports.Oversee and coordinate construction-related services on various projects.Conduct on-site investigations and review relevant data such as maps, reports, tests, and drawings.Comply with guidelines and regulations, including safety permits, and deliver necessary technical documentation.Essential SkillsOSHA 10 certification.Strong communication skills for daily client interactions.Bilingual in Spanish.Minimum of 1 year of construction experience.Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.Technical proficiency and design application knowledge.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with the construction process for large commercial, municipal, or federal projects.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work with computers, tablets, and phones.Strong writing and oral communication skills.Good interpersonal skills for relationship building.Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a federal background check.Work Environment

The role involves canvassing and surveying areas with a mobile app on a tablet to guide interactions. Responsibilities include inspecting pipes and taking photos. The work site is located in Scotch Plains/Middlesex, with working hours from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The position requires a vehicle, and mileage will be reimbursed. Opportunities for overtime pay are available. This is a Contract position based out of Edison, New Jersey.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
