Position Summary

The Utility Foreman is a mid-level position that reports to the Project Superintendent. The Utility Foreman coordinates and oversees the construction and quality of all utility processes which include infrastructure improvements of sewer, water, and drainage lines.  The Utility Foreman is directly responsible for the overall effectiveness and timeliness of all assigned utility projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

40% Management

Provides management and oversight for all decisions regarding utility installation projects, personnel, equipment, problem resolutions, and overall effectiveness of projects. Monitor labor, haul, equipment production, and cost for each project. Plans and coordinates production on a daily basis and plans work approximately 1 week in advance. Ensures all timesheets are entered and audited accurately. Plan, assign, coordinate, and evaluate crews. Interpret company policies for workers and enforces safety regulations Lead daily Task Analysis Review (TAR) meeting the with crew before the start of the shift.

      

30% Operations     

Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment. Maintains accurate record-keeping of projects. Tracks production. Inspects equipment and ensure operators maintain equipment and document usage. Inspect work areas to determine the type of work required and materials and equipment to be used. Interprets job orders to workers and assigns duties. Trains new employees

 

25% Safety   

Ensure the safety of the crew and the public. Comply with all safety initiatives, protocols, and procedures.

 

5%              Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: 

High Shcool/GED

 

Required Experience: 

Three (3) years of experience in Civil and/or Road Construction infrastructure improvement projects in a lead or supervisory position. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

Advanced:

Problem-analysis and problem-solving skills Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization Ability to work under pressure Interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

 

Proficient:

Organizational & time management skills Written and oral communication skills

 

Basic

Working knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: 

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field

 

Preferred Experience: 

Four (4) years of experience in Civil and/or Road Construction infrastructure improvement projects in a lead or supervisory position. 

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Physical and Mental Demands

Ability to work in excess of 40 hours a week, which may include nights and weekends Ability to view a computer screen for long periods of time Ability to function in a high-pressure, stressful environment and meet stringent deadlines Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment Ability to travel as required and work at different locations as required Ability to read, write and speak English at a level equal to or greater than the national standards for a college graduate
