Utility Engineer- Service Technician
Job Summary Details:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Utility Engineer to join our team at a medical laboratory facility. The Utility Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure components. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, HVAC experience, attention to detail, strong communication skills, technology skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, healthcare environment.

Location: Valencia, CA 

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 7:00AM – 3:30PM

Type of position: Full Time & Non-Union position 

Pay: $25 per hour

The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position.   A specific offer will vary based on the applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

  Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, electrical systems, and plumbing. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems to ensure optimal performance. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency calls to ensure minimal disruption to healthcare services.

 

Operational Efficiency:

Monitor and operate building automation systems (BAS) to maintain environmental conditions within prescribed parameters. Conduct regular inspections of utility systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. Implement energy-saving measures and identify opportunities for improving system efficiency.

 

Documentation and Compliance:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards specific to healthcare facilities. Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other engineering staff, facility management, and healthcare personnel to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize impact on patient care. Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff and contractors as needed. Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required, technical school or vocational training in a related field preferred. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check. Relevant certifications such as EPA Section 608, Journeyman Electrician, or Boiler Operator License preferred.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

 

Work Environment:

This position requires working in a laboratory facility with exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, as well as potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
