Utility Applications Engineer
Eaton’s Electrical Sector-Americas is currently seeking a Utility Applications Engineer to join the team. This is a remote role with approximately 50% travel. Candidates must reside in Canada, within reasonable commuting distance of an airport to be considered. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth. **What you’ll do:** As an Application Engineer, you will promote Eaton’s electrical products in the marketplace while providing technical leadership and collaborating with internal teams and external partners. A vital part of the role includes understanding competitive offerings, and positioning Eaton effectively with our Utility customers. Key duties include delivering pre-sale technical support, analyzing customer needs, managing communications, articulating product value, reviewing technical documentation, providing feedback to marketing and engineering, participating in process improvement initiatives, and delivering training to internal and external parties. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Customer Engagement & Technical Support:** Respond to inquiries about Eaton’s power systems products e.g UG/OH switchgear and controls, cutouts, arresters, regulators, capacitors, etc. Call on electrical engineers at utility customers and consulting firms to assist with technical design and promote Eaton products. Represent Eaton at industry trade shows (e.g., DTECH, CEATI, EDIST, CIGRE), staff booths, and deliver technical presentations. Provide support on major projects, including submittals, drawings, and interface with customers and consultants. + **Voice of the Customer & Product Development:** Gather and communicate customer feedback to inform product development and ensure alignment with market demands. Review and provide feedback on product literature, technical documentation, and cross-reference data. + **Training & Technical Expertise:** Conduct product seminars and training for end users, consultants, and Eaton’s sales team. Provide technical and application support for Eaton’s utility solutions and assist with design-build opportunities. Participate in industry standards organizations (e.g CSA, ESA, Electrofed) as appropriate to provide Eaton’s perspective. + **Focus Areas:** Support Utility customers across Canada with a focus on Power distribution and reliability products, power monitoring, and power control applications. Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and technical advancements. **What will make you successful?** The ideal candidate demonstrates strong initiative and exceptional problem solving skills, enabling them to translate customer challenges into clear, actionable solutions. Your deep technical knowledge of Eaton’s Utility solutions includes writing precise technical specifications, excellent presentation skills and delivering effective training. You also collaborate seamlessly with Utility Standards Engineers, Electrical Consultant Principals, Lead Electrical Engineers, Sales Managers, and Product Managers to drive strategic outcomes. We are looking for candidates who are diverse in their backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and who can bring fresh and innovative ideas to our team. **Qualifications:** **Required (Basic) Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from accredited institution + Minimum 8 years of electrical sales and/or electrical engineering experience. + Must have a valid driver’s license. + Legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship now and in the future. + No relocation is offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of an airport to support required travel (approximately 50%). **Preferred Qualifications:** + Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) License + 10 years of electrical sales and/or electrical engineering experience + Extensive knowledge of Eaton products, services, and competitors + Electrical Utility knowledge and/or extensive Electrical Engineering experience + French fluency considered an asset The compensation range for this full-time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $132000 - 165000. Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
