 Brief Description

 

The Utilities engineer ensures a reliable 24 h production and supply of the brewery utilities (Electricity, steam, compressed air, cooling, CO2, water, wastewater) to the production facilities, with a high focus on people and process safety. The Utilities engineer leads and coaches a team of technicians and support engineers with implementation of autonomous and planned maintenance activities. He/she organises also all support activities needed by contractors/outside parties. The Utilities engineer is also the Brewery energy champion: he/she coordinates activities to reduce energy and water consumption – in line with our environmental strategy- with a continuous improvement mentality.

 

Main Duties include:

 

 Organize resources to ensure a reliable and safe plant operation.       Organize daily, weekly and monthly autonomous and planned maintenance activities, with proper feedback to the engineering team. Organize collection of energy consumption data, with feedback and advice to the brewery leadership team on improvement actions, Coordinate actions in case of deviations of consumptions. Ensure proper alignment of Utilities activities with the main users through proper communication and feedback. As an energy champion, the Utilities engineer works also in close collaboration with other Heineken breweries worldwide to identify and implement best practices. Coordinate safety improvement actions specially related to people and process safety. Assess capabilities of utilities technicians and engineers and initiate/roll out training to fill the gaps Supervise operation and maintenance activities, also from third party contractors.

 

Qualification & Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree in engineering Operation and maintenance of most of the following equipment:

 - Compressed air production and distribution

 -  Steam production and distribution

 - Refrigeration systems (NH3 and Freon based)

 - Power generation and distribution (Gensets)

 - Water and wastewater management

 -CO2 recovery, storage and distribution

The ideal candidate has some years of experience as engine room engineer on a boat, with good learning agility, communication and coaching capabilities.
