Minimum Qualifications EXPERIENCE + Proven experience in HVAC and electrical system repairs, maintenance, and replacements is required + Experience working with chillers, boilers, and associated mechanical systems is highly recommended + Familiarity with both light and heavy equipment operation (e.g., lifts, forklifts, trenchers, generators) is a strong asset CERTIFICATIONS + Please include all applicable certifications in your application. The following are preferred: + EPA Universal Certification for refrigerant handling + Licensed Electrical Supervisor + Louisiana ORM familiarity + HVAC/R TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION (NATE or equivalent, preferred) + Forklift / Heavy Equipment Operation Certification (preferred) + CPR/First Aid Certification (a plus) ADDITIONAL SKILLS + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics + Competency in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and safe work practices Job Duties and Other Information + Performs major replacements, new installations and modifications on HVAC and refrigeration equipment of all sizes + Performs required preventive maintenance and repairs on all HVAC systems + Plans and schedules the daily activities of the Physical Plant Utilities crafts along with the Director of Utilities + Work with the Facility Coordinators at the instructional sites to schedule maintenance staff for repairs and routine maintenance + Coordinate all maintenance and service calls for fire alarm monitoring, fire alarm servicing and elevators maintenance + Assists in the training of HVAC mechanics and apprentices + Operates, regulates, and adjusts domestic and hot water boilers, circulating pumps, chillers and refrigeration systems associated with building operation + Performs air balancing in HVAC distribution systems + Inspects and approves the work of contracted services and employees + Assigns and inspects the work of journeyman HVAC Refrigeration Mechanics, Maintenance Repairers, Trades Apprentices, Helpers and Laborers + Review, prioritize and schedule work orders for utilities trades + Coordinates and oversees third party contractors for life safety systems including, fire alarm, hood suppression, fire extinguisher and elevator contracts + Visit job sites, and works with Director of Utilities to determine the scope of work, material lists, costs/time estimates of project, and scheduling of projects + Supervises and works with the HVAC Refrigeration Mechanics, Maintenance Repairers, helpers, laborers, trades apprentices in the assignment and performance of their work + Perform limited administrative duties such as requisition materials and quotes, perform service ratings on subordinate employees, updates and maintains files on jobs - work in progress, cost estimates, timesheets, approval of leave, etc. + Oversee the installation, repair, alteration, maintenance and control of refrigeration, heating, ventilation and cooling systems in accordance with all applicable codes and governing bodies + Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors Benefits for unclassified employees are determined by the individual hiring authority.
