Job Description Summary
DEFINITION
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director Information Technology or Supervisor, Technology Services, provide general user support services to users of District supported computer systems, software, and hardware; provide clerical support to the department; the first point of contact for users seeking assistance for campus technology issues. Diagnose and answer questions from users regarding computers, peripherals, and applications. Triage complex problems and forward to appropriate staff.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents in this position support student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by providing first-line technical support for the college's technology systems, as well as prioritizing the departmental response, and providing clerical assistance within the department.

Essential Functions & Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Serve as the first point of contact for the department;
• Ensure good customer service through friendly, supportive, and positive interaction with customers;
• Assess support needs and route requests appropriately;
• Solve user computer problems remotely or in person;
• Assist with the deployment of new technology as it relates to support;
• Learn and adopt new technologies as needed to effectively support customers;
• Follow department procedures for logging customer requests and solutions;
• Complete requisitions for other departments for computer equipment;
• Investigate vendors and pricing for non-standard equipment requests according to department procedures;
• Dispatch, in case of emergency, appropriate staff based on established procedures and needs;
• Create, modify, and remove accounts (i.e. employee, guest, calendars, and department);
• Adjust account settings (other user access, out-of-office, forwarding rules) when necessary;
• Maintain distribution lists and security group memberships;
• Maintain security levels to multiple technology systems;
• Perform clerical duties (i.e. receptionist, data entry, order supplies, manage purchases, track department budgets, etc.);
• Maintain department web page, employee directory information for the college, and post college announcements;
• Create user documentation;
• Provide information regarding District technology policies and procedures and the department;
• Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
• Associate's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Required
• Two years of work experience, or combination of education and experience which would indicate possession of knowledge, skills and abilities listed.
Knowledge of:
• Industry standard operating systems (Windows, iOS, Android, Mac OS);
• Problem solving/troubleshooting techniques;
• Standard computer terminology;
• Research tools for problem resolution;
• Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software;
• Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and
• District policies and procedures.
Ability to:
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and
• Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.
Physical ability to:
• Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors;
• Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email;
• Sit or stand for extended periods of time;
• Lift and/or carry 25 pounds; and
• Exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.
