Our Platform Intelligence team is building Watchtower, a centralized operational hub built on Spotify Backstage that transforms how incident response and error correction work at massive scale. As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll architect and build the operational intelligence platform that thousands of engineers rely on during their most critical moments. Using React, TypeScript, Redis, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and cutting edge AI, you'll create event driven systems that blend automation with human judgment to keep a Fortune 500 company running smoothly when things go wrong.
What you'll do:
Design and build the next generation of incident management, from automated workflow orchestration to AI powered post incident analysisCreate event driven systems that orchestrate incident response in real time, including live chat integration, intelligent stakeholder routing, and dependency health monitoringBuild the eventing backbone that connects disparate systems, enabling rapid response when critical failures occurDevelop AI agents that learn from every incident to prevent future failures, generate instant incident summaries, and suggest corrective actions based on historical patternsDesign real time streaming systems that process operational data with low latency

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
