Position Summary...What you'll do...Coordinates completes and oversees jobrelated activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs identifying and communicating goals and objectives building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results identifying and addressing improvement opportunities and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training mentoring assigning duties providing recognition and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission values and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices
Creates budgets for sales expenses and wages and monitors club indexing making sure budgeted numbers are achieved and ensures department staffing levels are within company guidelines
Works as part of the management team by ensuring all opening and closing procedures are followed communicating with opening and closing managers to ensure a smooth transition from day to night operations and participating in discussions about merchandising opportunities and directions scheduling concerns associate issues issues needing to be escalated additional resources needed and any special opening or closing instructions or information
Plans the production labor and execution for major events for example holiday seasonal demands by reviewing the production plan report modifying production plans based upon holidays local events weather forecasts and other local events impacting member traffic modifying fresh associates schedules based upon projected changes in member traffic reviewing projected business results and comparing them to actual results and making adjustments as business conditions require
Oversees and enforces the execution of food safety standards cold chain compliance and food merchandise quality by evaluating the temperature storage sanitation date coding product rotation and recalls on stocked merchandise and training associates about Food safety standards sanitation and expectations
Drives sales and profit in Fresh areas by ensuring effective merchandise presentation including accurate and competitive pricing proper signing in stock and inventory levels budgeting and forecasting sales assessing economic trends and community needs reviewing club financial reports for example profit and loss P and L operational income statement OPIS comparing projected financial results with actual results ensuring Fresh financial performance is meeting budgetary expectations and managing product and labor ordering and scheduling based upon analysis results
Manages the performance of clubs Fresh areas by reviewing current club Fresh performance for example sales production planning food safety identifying gaps between projected results and actual business results managing Fresh area processes to close performance gaps managing food safety compliance requirements for example Food and Drug Administration FDA Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA assisting the thirdparty technical team in delivering training implementing and monitoring process improvements to meet the clubs financial goals and making adjustments to processes as business conditions require
Manages and enforces Sams Club Fresh standards by evaluating finished product packaging and instock comparing finished product to published standards removing substandard products from display area training Fresh associates and holding them accountable to sanitation and department standards ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards evaluating and improving club in stock and fresh production planning performing Fresh equipment reviews managing Fresh standards specification guides and recipe guides adherence managing backroom organization and managing product layout on the sales floor
Drives Club Experience Encourages Associates to identify and communicate ideas that will improve the products and services provided to local Members such as in the FrontEnd or on the sales floor and takes action to implement these ideas Anticipates external factors for example weather gas prices local events and uses this information to plan for Member traffic and sales volumes Applies information about competitor prices products displays and change initiatives to upgrade knowledge related to own functional areas ensure everyday low prices and make improvements in the Club Models and teaches Associates how to develop and implement new ways to provide a convenient safe and pleasant shopping experience for Members Challenges Associates to identify and apply methods for resolving Member complaints and assists them with addressing difficult or complex issues
Manages Merchandising Operations Demonstrates and communicates solid working knowledge of merchandising products equipment and procedures Monitors and ensures merchandising timelines are met for products fixtures displays modulars layouts and floorplans Ensures merchandising operations and Club standards are aligned with Company standards and Member expectations Evaluates and responds to Member and Associate issues related to advising on maintaining procuring displaying and presenting merchandise Educates and trains Associates on merchandise planning and improvement processes for example seasonal events item merchandising feature productivity and monitors Associate implementation of these practices in order to achieve business goals and objectives Manages Fresh OperationsDemonstrates and communicates sound working knowledge of fresh products for example meat bakery cafe produce floral equipment and procedures Models and teaches managers how to ensure compliance with food safety sanitation and pest control guidelines based on federal state and local regulations and identify compliance issues ensuring their comprehensive understanding and application Identifies and responds to situations where associates and managers are not following the proper procedures and guidelines for producing packaging handling presenting and disposing of fresh products and provides training as needed
Manages Finances Demonstrates sound financial management skills including interpreting analyzing and explaining financial data and information Manages budgets and ensures budgets and financial performance are aligned with business strategic requirements Complies with Company financial policies and procedures Compiles and evaluates financial data to ensure operating procedures meet business needs Monitors financial data and trends to identify and respond to market changes and other areas of opportunity
