Job Description

Overview:
AECOM is currently seeking an Urban Designer to join our growing Urbanism + Planning team in the Dubai office. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and creative individual to work on a wide range of urban design and master planning projects in the region. The ideal candidate will support senior team members in developing design concepts, producing drawings and presentations, conducting research, and assisting with documentation across different project stages.

Role & Responsibilities:

Assist with the development of urban design concepts, masterplans, and public realm designs under the guidance of senior staff.

Produce high-quality drawings, reports, and presentations using design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp.

Conduct site, precedent, and policy research to support design development.

Collaborate closely with team members from other disciplines (architecture, landscape, infrastructure, transport, etc.) in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Support the preparation of design documentation for internal reviews and client presentations.

Contribute to team meetings, workshops, and design charrettes.

Maintain organized project files and follow internal quality standards and procedures.

Participate in learning and development opportunities offered by the team or the wider AECOM group.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.

2-4 years of relevant experience in urban design or planning.

Strong graphic, visual, and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in key design software (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and/or Rhino; GIS and Revit knowledge is a plus).

A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from senior colleagues and contribute to a team environment.

Enthusiasm for design, placemaking, and sustainable urban development.

Working towards professional accreditation (e.g., RIBA, RTPI, AICP, or equivalent) is a plus.
