Job DescriptionWe’re hiring a Cell Culture Engineer I to support lab operations at a client site in Framingham, MA.
This role involves hands-on support of lab equipment, bioreactor setup, and execution of small-scale cell culture activities. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, adaptable, and eager to grow in a fast-paced environment.
Duties Include:
Maintain and calibrate small-scale lab equipment (balances, pH meters, DO probes, benchtop bioreactors)Set up, sterilize, and disassemble single-use and stainless-steel bioreactors for fed-batch and perfusion runsPrepare and autoclave media, buffers, and reagents following sterile technique and SOPsInoculate, monitor, and sample shake flasks and bioreactors throughout the upstream processesExecute small-scale cell culture studies for process development, scale-up, and tech transfer supportAccurately document experimental data in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs) according to data integrity and GxP guidelinesDraft and revise protocols, batch records, and process summary documentsManage lab inventory, maintain equipment logbooks, and ensure readiness of day-to-day lab operationsAssist in troubleshooting, deviation documentation, and lab efficiency improvement effortsCollaborate closely with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to ensure experimental successQualificationsBachelor’s degree in a science-related fieldHands-on experience executing cell culture studies in small-scale or pilot lab environmentsProficient in assembling, disassembling, cleaning, and maintaining bioreactors, including all associated parts and probesSkilled in inoculating, feeding, and sampling bioreactors and shake flasks; performing basic analytical assays and compiling resultsExperience in maintaining cell culture passages and supporting aseptic techniquesFamiliarity with calibrating probes, autoclaving bioreactor components, and preparing batch media asepticallyComfortable using electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and navigating data acquisition/control systems such as MFCS, DeltaV, or ambrAbility to monitor process trends and troubleshoot issues using digital systemsAdditional InformationWhat to Expect in the Hiring Process:
