Menlo’s Upper School (grades 9-12) is seeking a licensed and skilled Mental Health & Wellness Counselor to join us from the end of October 2025 into May 2026. This professional will have specialized experience in school-based teen counseling. In addition to the counseling aspect of the work, the role also includes: collaborating with a team of counselors across the Middle and Upper School divisions; possibly teaching a 9th grade seminar class; collaborating on parent education; and advising, as needed, on the scope of Menlo’s overarching social-emotional and wellness programming for students. Primary Responsibilities: Provide confidential individual and group counseling to students, including social-emotional support, educational guidance, mediation, crisis services, and coordination of co-curricular activities. Work collaboratively with two additional counselors to support the mental health needs of the Upper School student body, aligning efforts with the Middle School counselor as needed and ensuring awareness of the 6-12th grade trajectory. Share our dedication to cultivating an ever more heterogeneous and inclusive community while committing to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Serve as a member of the Student Support Team to provide comprehensive, tiered case management support for students with social-emotional and/or academic challenges. Collaborate with the Upper School Assistant Director and the Student Life team to integrate social-emotional/values-based curricula in classroom settings or on an as-needed basis with faculty. Help students resolve teacher and classroom concerns and assist students in developing self-advocacy and problem-solving skills. Consult with and assist teachers and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students navigate academic, social, and emotional challenges.
