Fairview Hospital’s Level III Birthing Center is looking to add a Unit Support Assistant to their dedicated team of caregivers. The Birthing Center cares for all types of pregnancies, from normal to complex, and encompasses 13 labor/delivery/recovery rooms (LDRs), three operating rooms, a 3-bed recovery room, one inpatient room and one triage room. As a Unit Support Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment, transporting patients, maintaining established levels of supplies and proper equipment function and completing errands. 

A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Maintain and clean equipment as requested by Registered Nurse. 

Perform other transportation functions as required, including delivery of patient specimens, medical records, and patient care equipment. 

Collaborate with members of the health care team to promote patient care delivery and overall unit functioning. 

Prepare rooms for admissions and discharges by keeping them neat and uncluttered. 

Organize and clean supply rooms and maintain established supply levels. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High School Diploma or GED 

Customer service skills

Cleaning and organizing experience

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and frequent patient lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requires frequent standing, walking, bending/stooping, kneeling, reaching and squatting.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
