Role Overview:
The Financial Lines Underwriting Operations Manager (UOM) is responsible for driving the implementation of Financial Lines (FL) underwriting practices and processes across all segments, lines of business (LOBs), and industries within CEMENA. This role ensures alignment with CEMENA and COG strategies, collaborating closely with regional and COG operations leadership, the Madrid Underwriting Center, Segment Leaders, Broker Management, and Product Managers. The UOM leads the development of underwriting team competencies, delivers training, monitors underwriting authorities, and supports the development of new products and deals, ensuring performance metrics and controls are in place.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain trusted relationships with key decision makers, brokers, and segment leaders across all FL LOBs, driving account development initiatives and identifying cross-LOB opportunities.Lead change management for underwriting processes and tools (Ignite, Mendix, DuckCreek, etc.), adapting quickly to regulatory, market, and operational changes.Oversee coverage design and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and profitability, coordinating with product managers and actuaries.Act as a key relationship builder between product, country, and regional teams, facilitating collaboration and advocating for the Chubb brand.Present underwriting processes, best practices, and product developments to diverse audiences, delivering training and communicating changes in underwriting tools and procedures.Drive consultative selling by partnering with brokers, segment leaders, and product managers to develop innovative solutions and products.Ensure contract compliance and program suitability across all FL LOBs, providing guidance on complex contract issues and wording standardization.Lead coverage design initiatives, ensuring profitability and compliance, and coordinate multiline/package solutions.Apply advanced critical thinking to underwriting audits, peer reviews, and process improvements, coaching the team on analytical approaches.Make strategic decisions on underwriting authority, process improvements, and product development, ensuring timely implementation and considering broader business impact.Ensure premium service delivery across all FL segments and LOBs, monitoring service metrics and driving continuous improvement.Drive adoption and optimization of underwriting tools, proposing and implementing digital solutions for operational efficiency.Ensure team compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements, monitoring and reviewing underwriting documentation for quality and consistency.Champion a customer-centric approach in underwriting operations, incorporating customer feedback into process and product improvements.Oversee loss analysis and product performance reviews, implementing recommendations based on loss data.Manage FL portfolio performance, collaborating with segment leaders and product managers to drive retention and growth initiatives.Drive operational efficiency through process standardization and technology adoption, monitoring and improving workflow across underwriting operations.Coordinate opportunity management across FL segments and LOBs, presenting business cases for new products and deals.Oversee price monitoring and alignment with actuaries and line leaders, ensuring pricing practices are consistent and profitable.Prioritize underwriting projects and drive execution, managing team workload and deliverables.Lead problem-solving for underwriting process exceptions and audit findings, coaching the team on structured problem-solving approaches.Drive peer review process for risk selection and assignment, ensuring risk assessment aligns with Chubb appetite and strategy.Support FL growth and profitability initiatives, coaching the team on sales strategies and account development.Deliver technical training and presentations on underwriting processes and tools, ensuring consistency in messaging across all LOBs.Skills & Qualifications:
At least 10 years of experience in insurance in relevant rolesTechnical background with deep understanding of at least one FL LOB and overall knowledge of other FL LOBsFluency in English(C1)Market and broker knowledge Product development experiencePlanning and execution capabilitiesProject management skillsSolid and wide underwriting experienceExcellent communication and relationship-building skills, acting as an enabler to the businessFlexible, adaptive, and focused, with the capability to work in a matrix environmentStrong influence management, curiosity, and innovationAnalytical and facts-based decision maker
