Underwriting Manager
The Underwriting team processes loan applications in real time, assessing credit approval using a variety of data elements pulled during the application process. The underwriting manager ensures we have full team coverage and underwriters are fully engaged on incoming applications. Another important part of the responsibility is to help evolve and optimize this process to lower cost and increase overall effectiveness. This will include building out a deep understanding of factors influencing approval rates and losses

Responsible for their people at all levels (their peoples’ success, their peoples’ performance, their communication, etc.)Responsible for their own and team’s Precision Adherence to all policies (Originations Policy, Company Policy, etc.)Hold people accountable (management team and your people should all live up to their role)Be an expert in Underwriter Roles & duties, Originations Policy, and owned department processes/programsCommunicate effectively on all updates/changes to department in coordination with managementManage Underwriters’ Scheduling/TimeEach manager directly manages their direct reports:Missed time punches Time clock approvalsWFH requestsPTO requests, unpaid leave, employees leaving shifts earlyShift differential pay out amountsLunch Break (if employee takes a lunch) Coordinate with Management Team to build and maintain an effective schedule with proper department coverageResponsible for ensuring coverage or covering your people’s job responsibilities while they are Out of OfficeHave expert knowledge in managing and utilizing KPIs to determine performance, policy adherence, etc.Build, maintain, & utilize dpt. programs and SOPs for Underwriting department w/Management TeamExpected to come prepared and participate actively in ALL meetings or forumsHold 1 on 1s with your people monthly for personal/business development of your peopleMaintain Team cohesiveness by coordinating team meetings/exercises both for culture and business.Program Ownership:
