ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Underwriter will be responsible for providing Underwriters with the information necessary to make prudent underwriting decision and to support the underwriting life cycle from pre-submission through policy issuance and renewal.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
Clear new submissions and maintain clearance systemCollect, organize and save new and renewal broker submission dataManage due dates for quotes, binders, file set-up and policy issuance and keep underwrite apprisedAssist in setting up policies for issuance as directed by the underwriterReview policies to ensure they are issued based upon the terms and conditions outlined by the UnderwriterProduce endorsements accurately as directed by underwriterExamine and evaluate policy documents including declarations, applications, signed forms for proper formatting, spelling and grammar and accuracyInterpret and analyze underwriting manuals/guidelines, rating manuals, forms, and workflowsAssemble and maintain insurance policy files (paper copy and/or electronic) as directedMaintain knowledge of technical underwriting process and/or research information if needed; participate in ongoing training as necessaryHandle various requests and/or inquiries from producers and/or Underwriters through phone, in person, and written correspondenceProvide routine servicing of policies as needs arise including issuing of endorsementsOrder various underwriting reports to compile data for the UnderwritersInform Underwriters of any underwriting issues immediatelyPerform administrative duties for the department including writing reports and business correspondenceQualifications Bachelors degree preferred1-3 years or related P&C experienceGeneral insurance courses preferred Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting agencies or firms.
