Position Description

Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an Underground Electrical Foreman to join and grow our team. 

The role is responsible to ensure that Kibali underground (UG) electrical systems are maintained to the highest possible standard achieving an incident free, safe work environment, in a cost-effective manner whilst in continuous pursuit of the complete nationalization of the Kibali UG Electrical sections within the Kibali Engineering Department.

Responsibilities:

To provide direct support and advice to the Kibali UG Electrical department and to the UG Mining department and ensure work is completed in a technical, safe, quality controlled and efficient manner, by meeting Kibali, Democratic Republic of the Congo and International UG electrical standard requirements.

Maintain a safe and effective underground electrical workforce.  Maintain the underground electrical installations in a safe and reliable condition.  Actively encourage and participate in a positive attitude toward safety. Support and manage OH&S policies in your area of responsibility. Communicate with other departments as required. Report underground electrical status to relevant parties. Delegate responsibilities and provide a comprehensive handover document to the Senior Electrical Foreman and incoming UG Electrical Foreman prior to going off site for leave. Execute and oversee the national UG Electrician personnel training schedule as provided by the Senior Electrical Foreman.  Required to take scheduled on-call duty, as well as calls beyond normal working hours. Monitor, appraise and review UG Electrician personnel performance to exceed Barrick standards and report findings on the Barrick annual appraisal system. Regularly inspect the existing underground electrical installation to ensure it meets and continues to meet statutory and site requirements. Ensure testing of the underground electrical installation is performed and recorded in the Underground Electrical Record Book as required. Investigate electrical incidents and report to the Senior Electrical Foreman and relevant departments as required and produce measures to prevent reoccurrence. Ensure that workplace inspections are completed, and any hazards are recorded and rectified. Ensure all personnel are aware of and committed to their Duty of Care responsibilities. Schedule preventative maintenance in a cost-effective manner to minimise underground electrical plant and equipment costs and downtime. Establish a register (file) of all electrical workers' licences and resumes and ensure that the file is updated when Electricians enter or exit site.  Drive participation in toolbox and safety meetings. Ensure a high standard of housekeeping. Work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards

Qualification Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent Journeyman / Trade Electrician certification Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field will be advantageous Master Electrician certification will be advantageous

Experience and Skills Requirements:

10+ years’ experience as an Underground Electrician Mining operations experience, including mine planning, mining equipment selection and performance, and contractor management Committed to safety and demonstrates effective safety leadership Experience with Sandvik and Newtrax automation technology Proven leadership and management experience Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and blueprints Working knowledge of the International Electrical Code Experience with commercial, industrial, and/or residential projects Strong understanding of project management principles
