**Purpose of team and role**
The Laboratory Analyst is a member of the Quality Control Laboratory and is responsible for conducting various analytical tests/assays to determine the identity, quality and purity of incoming raw materials, intermediates, and drug substances in accordance with established quality control procedures. The laboratory conducts a variety of tests/assays on in-process production samples and on samples submitted by Technical Services/Manufacturing Sciences (TS/MS). The laboratory also provides support for stability studies, the site clearance air monitoring program, and corporate reference standards. The Laboratory analyst will support the analytical testing required during new product introduction, including method transfer and validation. The laboratory may also provide analysis support for other groups within Eli Lilly e.g., reference standard characterisation, investigative testing etc. The role also supports the installation and maintenance of equipment, associated procedures, and required quality systems. In addition to the above, Laboratory Analysts will have the capability to run any other assays on a routine or non-routine basis as requested by various areas of the plant .
**Responsibilities** :
+ The laboratory analyst is responsible for conducting various analytical procedures as specified above in accordance with current corporate specifications and cGMP’s and for maintaining these SOPs.
+ The laboratory analyst will be responsible for tabulating and consolidating assay results, lead times and other performance indicators and be capable of presenting informal reports of results to immediate supervision.
+ The laboratory analyst will be involved in deviation investigations and will record any errors encountered, as per procedures and training.
+ The laboratory analyst will follow all relevant Environmental, Health and Safety procedures and will be involved in incident investigations as required.
+ As a member of the technical personnel, they will be responsible for adhering to, and improving, where appropriate, safety procedures to protect themselves, other personnel and company property.
+ Recognising the importance of the quality control function in pharmaceutical production, the laboratory analyst should display a high level of integrity in the performance of their work.
+ They should be capable of relating well to other people with whom they come in contact, both within and outside of the laboratory area.
+ The laboratory analyst is knowledgeable of general scientific methods and is capable of learning and executing new techniques and instrumentation after appropriate training.
+ The laboratory analyst may also be requested to partake in or lead area or cross-functional continuous improvement projects e.g. Six Sigma or other appropriate methodology.
**Requirements** :
• Currently enrolled in 3rd level education and ready to pursue student placement as part of an undergraduate/masters program
