Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner. May be required to learn to scan vascular exams i.e., venous duplex scans. Will perform direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. Under the direction of Radiology leadership, the Ultrasound tech performs duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures in the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis of disease or pathology.
Essential Job Functions:
Licensing/Certification
Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (preferred, or must obtain within 2 years)BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics/Gynecology (preferred)Education
Associates, America Medical Association (AMA) allied health training program in Ultrasound (preferred)Work Experience
1 year experience as an Ultrasound Tech (preferred)Training
EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)Skills
