Job Overview:

The sonographer position provides patient services using diagnostic ultrasound equipment. The sonographer is competent in the production and analysis of ultrasound images used by physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment. In addition, the individual must be prepared to render quality patient care by exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of sonographic services,

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduate of a CAAHEP -Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health, accredited school requiredRegistered by the ARDMS

Essential Functions:

Ability to perform mathematical calculations and utilize instrument controls,Assess and evaluate patient history and physical findings,Cooperation with all personnel to ensure smooth patient throughout,Enter patient information, select appropriate transducer, set initial power input and instrument gain for patient size and age, and select menu items as required for type of equipment and provide consistent and optimal image quality,Enter patient information, select appropriate transducer, set initial power input and instrument gain for patient size and age, and select menu items as required for type of equipment and provide consistent and optimal image quality,Know acoustic physics, Doppler ultrasound principles, and ultrasound instrumentationKnowledge of gross and sectional anatomy; physiology, disease, pathology and sathophysiology,Maintains adequate stock levels and assists in minor surgical procedures,Modify standard imaging protocol as required by patient history or initial sonographic findings,On-going daily calibration and preventive maintenance as assigned by the Lead,Recognizes examination findings that may require immediate clinical response and notify Radiologist,Recognizes sonographic representation of normal and abnormal structures, organ, systems relationships and relational anatomy,Performs all other duties as assigned,Available to rotate through all Jacqueline Wilentz locations if needed
