Shift coverage would be any day Monday-Friday 0700-1900

Call:  Coverage might be overnights during the week and 24-hours on weekends. Call is shared among the techs

Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist, under a Radiologist or physician's supervision, performs ultrasound procedures. They work in ambulatory and hospital settings as requested by a physician or licensed provider. This is for diagnosing disease and injury according to established protocols.

Essential Functions of the RolePerforms high-quality ultrasound procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.Prepare the patient and area for the procedure. Position the patient, adjust immobilization devices, and move equipment into position. Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.Protects patients and team members by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene.Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory. Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.Imaging team members must follow policies, procedures, and workflows. These include PACS, EMR, image exchange systems, modality worklist integrity, record management, and BioMed services.Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.Key Success FactorsAble to perform high quality ultrasound procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.Able to provide services timely, accurately, and cost-efficiently in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.Able to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.Able to stay calm and helpful during stress.
