Job Summary

\n

The Ultrasound Technologist, under a Radiologist or physician's supervision, performs ultrasound procedures. They work in ambulatory and hospital settings as requested by a physician or licensed provider. This is for diagnosing disease and injury according to established protocols.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nPerforms high-quality ultrasound procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.\nUtilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.\nPrepare the patient and area for the procedure. Position the patient, adjust immobilization devices, and move equipment into position. Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.\nProtects patients and team members by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene.\nMaintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory. Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.\nObtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.\nImaging team members must follow policies, procedures, and workflows. These include PACS, EMR, image exchange systems, modality worklist integrity, record management, and BioMed services.\nMaintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.\n\n

Takes reasonable steps to resolve issues.\nAble to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.\nEnsure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.\nDemonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for caring for newborns, pediatric, young adults, adults, and geriatrics.\nAble to serve as trainer by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.\nAble to take call, if required.\n\n

EDUCATION: Grad of an Accredited Program

EXPERIENCE: 1yr Ultrasound Tech experience

\n

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

\n

·       BLS within 30 days of hire/transfer

\n

·       Registered in one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers ARDMS (OB/GYN) or (AB) or (BR) or (MSK) or (RVT) OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT(S) or (BS) OR the Cardio Credentialing Intl. CCI (RVS).
