Department Superintendent (Extraction/Soy Protein Concentrate) – Decatur, IL.
This is an exempt level position.
Position Summary:
Lead day-to-day operations of a soy/protein extraction department. Demand for plant-based proteins is growing and ADM provides decades of protein expertise and this department plays a meaningful role in delivering on that demand.
Job Responsibilities:Actively work to ensure that all ADM employees, visitors, vendors and contractors understand and align with the ADM safety policies and proceduresRequire safety and compliance with all state and federal laws and regulationsWork very closely with compliance personnel to ensure continuous audit readiness in a PSM and Food Safety plantUtilize assets efficiently to meet production and quality goalsLead department in established policies, procedures and plant prioritiesGuide department in a manner that results in a cohesive, focused, positive climate to achieve organizational goalsProvide mentorship to operators and engineers to achieve short term and long-term department performance through use of KPI’s, continuous improvement, and Performance Excellence conceptsEmbrace an owner’s mentality by managing costs and continuously focus on efficiency improvementEnsure training and development of all department employeesProvide mentorship, accountability, and disciplinary support as necessaryJob Requirements:A Bachelor’s degree or higher of Science or Chemical Engineering or similar area of concentration5+ years in a production environment in soy extraction/food processing/or similar industryExcellent leadership ability including a vision for strategic direction, delegation and leading others in work executionDemonstrated scale-up experience and/or new technology development experience in a production environment is a plusKnowledge of multiple processes and unit operations in a full-scale production plantKnowledge of PSM and Food Safety Standards is vitalExcellent written and verbal interpersonal skillsExcellent planning and organizational skillsProven track record as a phenomenal teammateHigh energy level and clear customer focus emphasisAbility to prioritize workloadMake decisions in a fair and professional mannerPossess the ability to climb stairs, lift up to 55 lbs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and in various climatesPrompt attendance is a requirementPhysical qualification to wear a respirator may be requiredExcited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
