St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Tumor Registrar to join our team!

Job Title: Tumor Registrar

Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week.

Shift: Day

Location: Langhorne, PA

Responsibilities:

Abstracts appropriate data from the cancer patient medical record in accordance with the PA State Guidelines and ACOS. Forwards appropriate information to the State. Performs follow-up activity and coordinates all Cancer Conferences. Prepares reports and participates in on-site reviews.

Maintains systems and files including quality control for identifying and recording all cases of malignant disease. Systems and files include a computerized data base system, maintenance file, accession registry, master patient index, primary site file, follow-up control file, suspension file, documentation of data use file.

Prepares routine and special reports, which include graphic presentations of data, design table, charts and graphs. Participates in the American College of Surgeons and Pennsylvania Cancer Registry surveys.

Maintains and updates a procedures manual which details the operations of the Tumor Registry including retrieval of tumor registry data, abstracting and follow-up on registry patients.

Assists and collaborates with clinicians, epidemiologist and other researchers on cancer related studies and research projects.

Codes topography, morphology and other related information using ICD-O (International Classification of Disease for Oncology), codes for data entry.

Conducts follow-up on all patients to obtain end result information on the quality of life and length of survival.

Follows appropriate procedures for compliance with identifying and reporting cases to the PA State of Registry.

Maintains liaison with the medical staff, community, allied health professionals, local state and national health organizations, professional societies and other tumor registries.

Participates in the National Call for Data project and provides data according to the requested timeframe

The ability to work effectively within role, independently and with other team members.

Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

Effective communication skills with supervisors and peers.

Ability to multi-task and be flexible to adjust assignments as priorities change.

Must be able to meet deadlines and work with time constraints.

Position Requirements:

Associates degree required including at least two semesters of human anatomy and physiology and knowledge of medical terminology.

Current certification by NCRA (Oncology Data Specialist) required - must obtain CE’s to maintain certification.

Minimum 1 year work experience abstracting CoC/NAACCR/NPCR/PA cancer registry cases preferred.

Extensive knowledge and experience in case finding, accessioning, abstracting, follow-up and quality control.
