Reporting to the Senior Supervisor -TSF, you will be responsible for implementing the technical aspects of the TSF and soil laboratory test works, operating procedures, standards, guidelines, systems and processes and related activities to aid in maximizing TSF surveillance, operations and minimizing costs, while ensuring operational sustainability.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Promote and comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
Ensure that all TSF data monitoring, laboratory equipment and instruments are properly installed, monitored, maintained, and calibrated.
Ensure all technical monitoring data is up to date (Standpipes, VWP’s, V-notch weir, automatic weather station etc.).
Participate in the supervision of TSF and other site wide construction works
Supervise and coordinate soil testing activities, including sampling, testing, and analysis
Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory technicians and assistants as needed
Troubleshoot technical problems and develop solutions related to TSF and soil testing and analysis
Conduct regular inspections to ensure that all laboratory equipment and instruments are functioning properly
Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results
Collaborate with other departments such as Geotech and Environment to ensure that technical requirements are met
Supervise housekeeping tasks within and outside the laboratory.
Perform any other ad hoc production related task assigned by the Senior Supervisor
Ensure alignment with the Barrick Environmental Standards (Water Management and Conservation and Incident Reporting and Investigations
Implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of self and the team.
Utilize appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Be part of continuous improvement for the function and drive and measure achievement of these targets.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate
Diploma in civil, construction materials testing or related courses.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Soil testing laboratory
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Must Have a minimum Class B Driver’s License
Must be a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
