Position Description:
The TS Power Plant is looking to hire an experienced Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and timely handling, loading, and movement of coal and related materials. This role ensures proper coordination between material handlers, coal mines and the railroad, maintaining compliance with safety regulations and operational protocols specific to coal transport, locomotives and Nevada Gold Mines TS Power Plant.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate coal deliveries with the coal mines and the railroad as well as being certified to operate the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) locomotives and perform railcar inspections and track inspections (per CFR 232.205, Department of Transport – Federal Railroad Administration certifications).
· Coordinate between maintenance and operations to ensure identified work and/or deficiencies are being turned into work orders and that these work orders are completed and closed out in a timely manner.
· Inspect and operate locomotives, rail cars, and unloading equipment during the coal unloading process. Work with train maintenance company as needed and schedule major repairs. Ensure the train is UP safe to go on the main line from TSPP to the mine and back by making sure required maintenance is performed.
· Inspect rail and rail switches, inventory locomotives and rail cars for compliance with applicable regulations. Maintain computerized records of coal cars, railroad schedules, material deliveries.
· Maintain records of all fuels and chemical commodity deliveries working closely with operations personnel
· Follow closely power generation schedules and ensure supply of materials and inventories are sufficient.
· Assist the TS Power Plant Operations Manager and shift supervisors with resolution of day-to-day issues being reported by plant personnel
· Assist with addressing deficiencies at the TS Solar Plant associated with photovoltaic panels, tracking systems, generation function and fire safety.
· Work with TS Power Plant operations shift personnel and provide support with field items as needed.
· Work with mechanical maintenance and plant electrical personnel for corrective actions.
· Assist with other energy market and generation requirements as needed.
Qualifications:
· Five (5) + years of experience in coal handling, rail yard operations, or a similar industrial environment.
· One (1) + years of supervisory or team lead experience in a heavy industrial or rail setting.
· Familiarity with coal handling systems, trackside safety, and locomotive logistics is essential.
· Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration), FRA (Federal Railroad Administration), and environmental compliance standards.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment problems.
· Proficiency with inventory and yard management software is a plus
