Truss Production Supervisor

PURPOSE

 

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in production activities at facility. This includes supervision of the truss plant, panel plant, and yard. This position is for supervisor employees who spend at least 50% of their time performing supervisory work (not the work of the subordinates).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Schedules and directs workers in truss or panel manufacturing. Interviews and selects hires to ensure that department is fully staffed for production needs. Trains workers in safe and correct equipment operation. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements and work procedures to meet schedule demands. Applies company policies and ensures alignment with core values and compliance with safety regulations. Recommends measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, quality of product, and efficiency Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Maintains time and production records. Confers with management and area leads to coordinate activities of individual departments. Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the production area. Directly supervises laborer workforce. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 Three to five years related experience and/or training. 

 Prior experience supervising preferred.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
