Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid on day shift, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role: Perform monthly and annual closing activities in compliance with US GAAP and financial reporting and analysis (Balance Sheet, P&L, FX effects, AR aging, contract AR).
What You’ll Do:
Ensure excellence in account reconciliation and journal entry creation
Handle manual journal entries and adjustments as needed
Manage cash clearing accounts & netting process
Manage bank open items and daily cash/bank reconciliations using Wall Street System
Conduct cash walks, forecasting, funding, and other treasury-related tasks
Process manual payment requests outside standard procedures
Ensure adherence to GM corporate policies and external regulations
Act as the main contact for internal and external audits
Identify and resolve accounting/control issues
Document process gaps and drive improvements
Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders (Business Units, Global Finance, IT) to drive resolutions for process and system related issues
Identify, lead, and implement process improvements to drive efficiencies within their respective areas (e.g. LEAN/Six Sigma/Automation)
Investigate and report to the Supervisor any inconsistencies or improprieties.
Lead and perform process migrations as applicable for the entity that will be assigned
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Highly Analytical: Strong expertise in MEC activities & reporting, including Balance Sheet reviews and variance analysis
Account Knowledge: Able to relate and interpret data across key accounts such as Cash, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Sales, Inventory, and Intercompany transactions
Effective Communication: Proficient in leading discussions with Business Units (BU) and cross-functional counterparts, including working with international associates where English is a second language
Flexible Work Hours: Willingness to take late-night calls and extend working hours during closing periods or as per business requirements to accommodate global time zones
Intermediate understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and SOX/Internal Control Requirements – additionally continue to attend training on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Working knowledge of SAP and other GM systems as required for the assigned position (systems and level of knowledge necessary will vary – employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
Exposure and experience in treasury & AR/AP operations is a plus
Detail-Oriented: Precision is critical, especially when handling cash transactions and reconciliations
