the health of our communitiesJOB SUMMARYThe Trauma Registrar is responsible for the Trauma Registry a data base unique to trauma patients including patient identification chart abstraction collection coding scoring and entering of data into a designated registry data base This position ensures the accuracy of the data that is collected and collaborates with performance improvement and administrative planning This position also ensures that trauma data is retrieved entered analyzed and verified in accordance with state and national mandated regulations to ensure American College of Surgeons verification and State designation for Trauma Center statusIn addition this position assists with quality control activities information requests and studies as requested Lastly this position identifies and maintains a data base for trauma cases to meet state requirements and minimal standards of the American College of SurgeonsWork where every moment mattersEvery day more than Hartford hours of registry specific continuing education per yearExperience to years in a position requiring knowledge of electronic medical record and PC skills with knowledge of database system such as input data and retrieving dataLicensure Certification RegistrationHires must complete the American Trauma Societyrsquos Trauma Registry course and the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Injury Scaling course within months of employmentSuccessfully participate in the ICD refresher course every yearsAccrue at least hours of trauma related CE during the verification cycleCSTR Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry andor CAISS Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale SpecialistKnowledge Skills and Ability RequirementsSpecial Training Extensive knowledge of ICD coding AIS coding E codes anatomy physiology medical terminology and disease processesMust be computer literate and be proficient in keyboarding spreadsheets word processing and databasesRequires ability to analyze and report registry data to support the activities of the Trauma ProgramMust be able to work independently as well as collaboratively and have a strong aptitude for detailWe take great care of careersWith
