Transportation Planning Co-op / Intern (Fall 2025)

This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success. **Your Opportunity** As a Transportation Planning Intern on our urban mobility team, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on multiple, high-profile projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a collaborative team of engineers, planners, urban designers and landscape architects to address the most pressing issues facing our communities and develop creative planning solutions to address changing land-use and infrastructure demands. You’ll be encouraged to be a creative teammate, dedicated to meshing the emerging trends in urban mobility with the best practices of transportation planning. Your fundamental knowledge, planning, and communication skills will contribute to the growth of a thriving transportation planning practice within the North Central region. Potential projects include everything from complex urban mobility studies and projects to more routine corridor studies and system-wide transportation planning efforts. Our clients generally include Local, State, and Federal government agencies. **Your Key Responsibilities** Our Transportation Planning Intern will learn all facets of transportation planning and support our professional team bring projects from concept to deliverable; this includes providing needed support on studies, conducting analysis, report and graphics preparation as well as everything in between. **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Knowledge of local transportation planning processes and design standards related to bicycle, pedestrian, transit, and street design is a plus. Interest in comprehensive transportation plans, environmental review, and corridor studies is desired. + Must be comfortable working with clients and members of the community/public in a variety of settings, from open houses to stakeholder sessions. + Must have exceptional writing skills and be savvy with emerging technology to engage the public, including developing and maintaining project websites, online survey platforms, etc. + Ability to interpret and apply planning and design guidelines and ordinances + Excellent computer, writing, and technical skills, including ArcGIS and the Adobe Suite + Self-motivated and passionate about transportation planning, accessibility and equity + Strong time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills + The ability to work with others, as well as independently + Responsible for completion of other efforts/projects as assigned **Education and Experience** Applicants should be a current student or recent graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent in Transportation Planning, Planning, Urban Design, or related field.  **Pay Range:** + Locations in MN- Min Salary $23.38/hour - $34.53/hour Typical office environment working with computers.
