What We Do – Accountabilities
• Assures timely and cost-effective transport of all inbound product via air, ocean, rail and truck from foreign ports of origin to the intended Distribution Centers
• Provides visibility to inbound product flow through reporting, email communication, and system updates
• Maintains accurate shipment and cost data to support key operational and financial business decisions
• Facilitation of on-time pickups for DC Bypass program
• Maintaining cost and service balance of air freight services through volume allocations
Essential Functions
• Manages all inbound air and ocean freight coming into the DCs
• Communicates with key contacts for internal domestic and international logistics teams, DC operations, consolidators, carriers, vendor agents, and Transload partners to ensure smooth and timely goods movement
• Manages Sales Order (SO) requested delivery dates, communicating delays to internal partners, and updating our systems accordingly
• Enters and maintains accurate shipment and cost data in inbound visibility Excel files
• Reviews carrier invoices for accuracy, applies GL coding, and submits invoices for Manager approval or to Accounts Payable
• Generates inbound visibility reports, assessing for accuracy before publishing
• Partners with Sr. Planner or Manager to determine course of action to remove carrier or terminal holds on inbound goods
• Provides air freight quotes to internal teams, and awards air freight volume to established carrier partners every month based on cost and service strategy established by Manager
• Prioritizes inbound deliveries for DCs to fulfill customer orders
• Uses TMS (transportation management system) for shipment building / creation
• Uses ECVision to update shipment information for small volume countries
• Tracks DC Bypass shipments, and partners with outbound transportation planners to ensure containers are routed for on-time pickup
• Writes, presents, and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for activities within Planner’s scope
• Sets delivery appointments with the DCs for live unloads
Preferred Qualifications & Education
Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience 1 – 3 years’ experience in import / export, transportation, or logistics Ability to partner with multiple cross-functional teams Strong problem solving and innovative thinking abilities Solid analytical skills, and strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently while supporting the overall team Ability to maintain solid working relationships Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and in writing Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, basic typing skills and experience with a Warehouse Management System/Transportation Management System (TMS) PKMS & AS400 knowledge
