Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Transportation Manager to lead all aspects of transportation operations within a cross-dock facility. This role is responsible for overseeing 5 supervisors, 4 dispatchers, and total 170 home delivery drivers. Responsible for operational efficiency, cost control, and a high level of customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include managing the transportation P&L, optimizing routing and service levels, overseeing fleet maintenance and yard operations, and driving performance through key metrics and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires daily engagement with drivers and frontline staff, fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and open communication. This is a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment where the ability to multitask, stay organized, and lead through change is essential. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who takes full ownership of team results, drives improvement, and is comfortable navigating conflict and coaching conversations to build a strong, high-performing culture.

Skills and Requirements
5+ years total leadership experience in an operational background, including 1–2 years managing supervisors (flex on industry relevancy in transportation, warehouse, operations, industrial, manufacturing, etc.)
Proven ability to lead large teams - must have directly overseen at least 5 staff members
Strong leadership presence with a willingness to hold teams accountable, have tough conversations, and navigate conflict constructively
Highly organized and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Demonstrated ability to drive KPIs, lead process improvements, and follow through on performance metrics
High level of ownership - must take full responsibility for team outcomes
Comfortable with daily coaching conversations, especially with frontline staff and drivers
Must show initiative, a desire to learn, eagerness to advance professionally. Bachelors degree
Experience in transportation/dispatch
Experience in start-up or dynamic operations is a plus
