Transportation Manager
This role requires strong ownership to independently lead a shift, proactively identify transportation risks and delays that could impact customer promises, and mobilize or influence stakeholders to mitigate potential issues.

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to lead relay operations, engage with multiple stakeholders, keep impacted downstream sites informed, and collaborate on the development of rescue plans.

Success in this role depends on excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills. The ideal candidate brings a balance of strategic thinking and execution, drives scalable solutions to complex problems, and communicates analytical insights clearly—both in writing and verbally. This position also involves managing small operations teams (3–10 L3s) and developing reports to monitor program progress.

Key qualities and expectations:
- Strong analytical mindset, with data-driven decision-making.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to navigate complex challenges.
- Capacity to break down problems into actionable steps.
- Structured, logical thinking to achieve goals efficiently.
- Familiarity with process design and optimization.
- Ability to influence without direct authority, using data and logic.
- Proven track record of building trust across diverse stakeholders.
- High degree of autonomy and maturity to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead Track and Trace operations for the Brazilian transportation network, proactively monitoring critical lanes to assess risks and develop rescue plans that protect daily delivery commitments.
- Monitor ad-hoc requests and cancellations, ensuring timely and effective action.
- Identify potential departure and cancellation delays at sites, and collaborate with stakeholders to create mitigation plans that reduce positioning and departure risks.
- Track On-Time Arrival (OTA) performance at destination nodes, analyze trends, and drive action plans to improve check-in compliance at origin sites.
- Own the LH to DEA contribution metric and develop programs aimed at reducing both controllable and non-controllable delays.
- Collaborate with ATS Carrier Managers and the TOM team to improve carrier performance, escalating issues when carriers are unresponsive.
- Lead the Linehaul Execution team to ensure effective carrier performance management, focusing on metrics such as on-time delivery and the impact of linehaul on customer experience.
- Define and maintain relevant performance metrics for each program, ensuring consistency and accountability. This includes pulling data from various sources (Excel, Access, SQL, or other systems), performing ad-hoc analysis, and identifying/removing defects through metric tracking.
- Maintain regular operational and tactical communication with both external (carriers) and internal stakeholders (Fulfillment Centers, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Amazon Logistics).
- Systematically escalate issues or data variances to the appropriate owners and teams, and follow up to ensure timely and effective resolution.

About the team
Relay Operations (RO) serves as the central command and control center for Transportation Execution across Amazon’s transportation network. It ensures hassle-free, timely pickup and delivery of freight from vendors to Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FCs), and from FCs to carrier hubs.

In the event of exceptions, RO intervenes to resolve issues and keeps all stakeholders informed throughout the process. Beyond this tactical problem-solving, RO is also responsible for identifying patterns in network exceptions and driving automation or process improvements to streamline operations.

This strategic work involves continuous network monitoring and in-depth data analysis. Overall, RO plays a critical role in maintaining the smooth operation of Amazon’s transportation network and has a direct impact on Amazon’s ability to deliver on its customer promises.
