Job Description

AECOM is currently pursuing an experienced Transportation Management Center Supervisor to support various projects located within the Franklin, TN area.

Responsible for the organizational management and direct supervision of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations staff, facilitating a cohesive and balanced operationActs as the primary point of contact, on-site, for the client agencyReview applicant resumes, conduct interviews, and recommend for hire/advancementAdministrative functions, including: invoice processing, shift scheduling, liaising with AECOM corporate management, staff recruitment, training, payroll processing, personnel performance reviews, and conflict resolutionDevelop and maintain routine personnel performance assessmentsCoordination of traffic signal operations between client signal system engineers and AECOM control room staff.Maintain 24/7 awareness of the control room’s equipment status, coordinating service failures with field maintenance and information technology staff to ensure maximum system availabilityCoordinate with client on citizen issues related to complaints, inquiries, and public information requestsShare (or assume) responsibilities with (for) the client for TMC public relations activities such as: TMC public outreach efforts, facility tours, presentations, and Traffic Incident Management (TIM) team meetingsRoutinely report to client and company stakeholders on the operation’s efficiency and effectiveness in providing regional traffic management, traveler information, incident management, traffic signal operations, and active vehicle detection systems. Prepare regular reports on the performance of the system based on pre-determined measures of effectivenessAssist in maintaining sounds freeway operations by:  guiding essential control room operation decisions, developing special event response plans, participating in post-incident analysis exercises, and by ensuring that staff resources are being tasked in an impactful mannerResponsible for the comprehensive training and auditing of the operations staffEffect Control Room staff meetings, as requiredParticipate in meetings, conferences, and committees as appropriate as assigned by the clientWrite and maintain technical documents, including but not limited to the TMC OperationsManual/Standard Operations Procedures, training programs, and TMC website contentServe, eventually, as a subject matter expert for the client and AECOM on TMC control room operations, freeway incident management, operations statistical analysis, and field maintenance practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree plus 8 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationValid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records reviewDue to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required

 

Preferred Requirements:

General knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic engineering principles and standardsSkilled in the use of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) applicationsSkilled in report writing, technical writing, management team presentations, spreadsheet analysis, and interoffice communicationAbility to be calm and effective under pressure and in a variety of work conditionsAbility to coordinate real time activities and initiate immediate priorities, for self and support staffAbility and willingness to work alternate work schedules and be on-call 24 hours/daySkilled in standard software applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)Full-range of physical mobility, visual acuity, and general good healthRadio and phone communications experienceGeographic familiarity with regional arterial and interstate road network
