Transportation Dispatcher -Contract

Dispatcher (6-Month Contract, with Potential Extension)
At First Student, our Dispatchers are a constant reflection of our company’s commitment to safety and customer service. We are currently seeking a Dispatcher for a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.

The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching all buses, ensuring on-time performance of routes, and providing guidance and support to drivers and monitors on the front line.

Dispatcher Responsibilities:

Oversee all routes and scheduling of busesCounsel and coach drivers and monitorsHandle heavy phone and radio trafficReceive and report all scheduling and driver complaints to the Operations Supervisor/Contract ManagerServe as the primary communication liaison with major contracted customersManage charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll as assignedProvide solutions to drop-off and pick-up problemsPerform back-up driver duties or miscellaneous clerical duties as neededComplete assigned special projectsAssist with supervision of day-to-day operations

Dispatcher Experience and Skills Required:

3–5 years of relevant experienceHigh school diploma or equivalentBasic knowledge of radio dispatch equipmentExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to deliver under time constraints and deadlinesPrevious terminal operations, dispatch, or driver experience preferredComputer literateSubject to DOT drug testing and physical. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
