TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR I

POSITION OVERVIEW:   

Under the direction of the Team Manager and Crew Leader, the incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of duties to support Shipping, Core Operations, freight forwarders to ensure on-time domestic and international shipments. 

Creates shipping documentation, bill-of-lading, arranges transportation schedules with carriers. 

Must work well independently and with others. 

Stay engaged with keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments. 

Contact carriers to make arrangements for deliveries and pick-ups. 

Performs data entry responsibilities and follows up on discrepancies related to shipping activities. 

Coordinates with Core Operations on shipments and performs other duties as assigned.    

Provide support for process improvement, safety, sanitation, and training initiatives. 

Act as a liaison between department(s).  

  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Create shipping documentation, bill-of-lading, arrange transportation schedules with carriers.

Perform data entry responsibilities and follow up on discrepancies related to shipping activities. 

Coordinate with Core Operations on shipments.

Act as a liaison between department(s). 

Collaborate with Core Operation daily to ensure that the Daily Truckload Schedule is being met. 

Perform other duties as assigned. 

  

QUALIFICATIONS:    

High School diploma or equivalent required. 

Minimum of 2 years Shipping or Receiving experience required. 

Knowledge of Docu Sign /SAP Warehouse Management System preferred.  

Demonstrated ability to use calculator, on-line systems including PC databases, Outlook, Excel, and Word processing required. 

Forklift license & experience operating several types of material handling equipment, including reach, stand up, sit down, walking transporter & riding transporter desired. 

Must be able to lift to 50 pounds. 

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. 

High level of numerical computation skills and analytical skills required. 

Prepare shipping and order selection documents. 

Effectively communicates with all internal and external customers via phone, email and fax. 

Industrial order selection and Warehousing experience desired. 

Check-in drivers and effectively communicates with warehouse personnel.   

Overtime on short notice required. 

Perform additional duties as assigned.
