**JOB SUMMARY**
_This role supports the transportation department by handling driver check-ins, processing returns, maintaining DOT compliance, and performing clerical tasks to support efficient nightly operations. This is a_ **_2nd shift position_** _, and_ **_additional shifts and overtime may be required_** _based on business needs._
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ _Check in returning drivers by verifying invoices, returned product, missed deliveries, and company property (pallets, totes, etc.)._
+ _Inspect returns for restocking or customer credit eligibility, ensure food safety protocols are followed._
+ _Record delivery exceptions and apply correct reason/damage codes._
+ _Stage and separate returns; verify quantities and report overages for inventory re-entry._
+ _Schedules backhauls and communicates appointments to drivers_
+ _Review and process digital driver paperwork, including electronic logs, manifests, and vehicle inspection reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance._
+ _Dispatch drivers, including creating and distributing route packets, verifying equipment needs (pallet jacks, load bars, etc.), and ensuring all necessary documents and tools are prepared for a successful route start._
+ _Respond to driver and customer inquiries and assist with issue resolution._
+ _Answer phones, route calls, and relay messages._
+ _Run daily operational reports (e.g., observations, vehicle tracking)._
+ _Perform other duties as assigned._
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**
+ High school diploma or GED required.
**Experience**
+ 2 years of prior customer service experience preferred.
+ 2 years’ distribution/transportation experience in a high volume, route delivery operation preferred.
**Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations**
+ Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the company's insurability standards.

+ _Multitasking ability: Comfortable juggling phones, paperwork, driver check-ins, and data entry simultaneously._
+ _Customer service mindset: Professional and courteous when dealing with drivers, customers, and internal departments._
+ _Attention to detail: Critical for accurately processing paperwork, checking returned product, and logging data._
+ _Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills._
+ _Knowledge of DOT regulations._
+ _Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook._
+ _Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed._
_Must be available for second shift, including overtime and extra hours as needed._

+ Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the company's insurability standards.
**Professional Skills**
+ Strong leadership, analytical and motivational skills.
+ Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations.
+ Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
+ Expertise in Windows operating system and utilizing Excel and Word.
+ Understanding of Manpower scheduling.
