We are currently looking for a Transport Planner to join our fantastic team at Tarmac Birtley in Birtley, Chester-le-Street, Co Durham. As well as Birtley and Chester-le-Street, this role is commutable from Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Consett, Durham, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Darlington, South Shields, Wallsend, Longbenton and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility 

Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor the role of Transport Planner will work with multidisciplinary teams with both internal and external stakeholders including customers, customer service, planning and haulage drivers. The role will also be responsible for: 

 

Handling of inbound and outbound callsProcess customer’s ordersRaise any safety concerns immediatelyProactively chase and inform of changesComplaint handlingEffective communication with key stakeholdersAccurate recording of dataUphold company valuesEffective management of assets and materialsSourcing and management of external assetsEffective cost management

 

 

The Ideal Candidate 

The ideal candidate for the role of Transport Planner will already have proven experience working in a hectic Planning role but we welcome applications from those who enjoy working in a busy, challenging customer focussed environment dealing with multiple stakeholders.  

 

Suitable candidates for the role of Transport Planner will also have: 

 

Excellent planning and organisational skillsExcellent time management skills and the ability to multi task and manage expectations successfullyProven customer service and telephone skillsSuperb attention to detailAbility to communicate with stakeholders at all levelsProven teamwork capabilitySpeed and efficiency in making decisionsCommercial awarenessIT literacyGood geographical knowledge of the North East region (preferred)Knowledge of transport law (preferred but not essential)
