Transmission Line Technician II

This is the top craft level of the Line Technician hierarchy.  A Line Technician II will assist and safely lead lower level technicians in activities associated with substation construction and maintenance.  Incumbents are expected to have advanced technical and leadership skills and the ability to work independently and lead medium to large construction and maintenance activities. Capable of serving on committees and resolving advanced technical matters.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate a complete understanding of company safety rules and work practicesDemonstrate a complete understanding of Human Performance practices Exhibits the capacity to safely lead small jobs and work independent of direct leadership Advanced understanding of the processes needed to organize construction and maintenance work and create over all implementation/maintenance plansAdvanced understanding of reading prints and determine how to isolate protection circuits without jeopardizing critical equipmentAdvanced understanding of the processes needed to methodically/logically organize line work activities  Advanced understanding of the processes needed to operate bucket, digger derrick truck, and other areal devices Ability to respond to all call outsAdvanced understanding limitations, never assumes, and will STOP to seek helpExperience leading complex maintenance or construction projects Advanced understanding of the processes needed for the installation of portable/mobile substations/transformers/switches or other temporary equipmentAdvanced understanding of the processes needed to perform infrared scanning line equipment  Advanced understanding of regulatory compliance and the importance for accurate data and timely completion of assigned workAdvanced understanding of substation equipment isolation and clearances and grounding practicesHas the experience to complete the requirements for Switching and Tagging on both the Transmission and Distribution systemsAdvanced understanding of the processes needed to complete maintenance/construction activities on all line equipmentDemonstrates superior verbal and written communications skillsAbility to sit for 2-3 hours; may be driving a truck or sitting on a transmission class equipmentAbility to move frequently to unload equipment and to install/maintain/repair equipmentAbility to frequently climb or use authorized equipment to reach various heights and breadthsAbility to frequently and repetitively bend/stoop/squatAbility to distinguish colors

Basic/Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED5 years minimum required experience

The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight-rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.This position has a residency requirement. You must reside within 45 minutes of the assigned operations site. In order to meet with aforementioned position requirement, you will be required to relocate from your current residence within 12 months of your start date. Relocation will be entirely at your own expense.
