**Description** **Join Our Team as a Transmission Line Design Engineer in Training!** **Opportunity:** MHV is currently seeking an **Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Transmission Team** in Calgary. We offer a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team, where you will be offered guidance and hands-on training and continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process. **Responsibilities:** + Assist in the design of overhead high-voltage transmission lines using applicable standards and engineering principles + Review designs against applicable industry codes and standards as well as internal MHV standards. + Apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop complete and competent designs + Complete engineering calculations for transmission lines. + Use a variety of tools and software in design such as PLS CADD, ETAP, CDEGS etc. + Prepare estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, survey packages and design packages. + Assist in the preparation of engineering reports. + Prepare design packages for construction + Conduct site visits for field reconnaissance during the project design phase and field inspections during the project construction phase **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in electrical or civil engineering + Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Alberta + Ability to work in design teams and take the initiative to learn the position + Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite and CAD drafting tool such as Microstation and AutoCAD. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Strong computer design skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training + Previous design experience with substation, transmission or distribution lines is considered an asset. + Previous experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, CDEGS or PLS CADD software is considered an asset + Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel for site visits **Why Maskwa?** **_Industry Leaders_** – With some of the most experienced and innovative design team in the industry, we offer an opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the best in the business. **_Diverse Experience -_** With expertise in the three main areas of electric power delivery (Transmission, Substation, Distribution), MHV offers unique opportunities for individuals to develop multiple skill sets in the different disciplines. **_Work culture -_** MHV offers a collaborative atmosphere and promotes social activities in the work place.
