Position Summary The Transfer Success Navigator is a professional position within the Office of the Registrar that supports undergraduate transfer students’ transition from the point of admission through the first day of class. The Transfer Success Navigator is designed to close support gaps by offering proactive, individualized guidance to transfer students before they enroll, enabling them to make informed decisions about admission, degree planning, and their overall transition to CSU . Navigators work closely with campus and community partners to provide concierge-style academic and personal support, ensuring students are well-informed throughout their CSU transition. Transfer Success Navigators help students explore academic options, understand available majors, minors and certificate programs, clarify degree requirements, estimate time to graduation, and guide student course planning at their current institution to maximize applicability toward CSU degrees. Transfer Success Navigators train and present to CSU colleagues as well as external partners, such as community colleges. They represent the Office of the Registrar at transfer orientations, transfer fairs and other events focused on improving the transfer student experience and strengthening CSU’s transfer pathways. This position requires strong knowledge of CSU policies, degree requirements, and student resources, as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment in navigating complex transfer cases. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement after a period of onboarding and training. Required Job Qualifications All required job qualifications must be referenced in application materials to be considered for this position. The following items are required: + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. + Two (2) years professional experience advising, counseling, or supporting college students, preferably with transfer populations. + Knowledge of undergraduate academic programs and degree requirements. + Experience interpreting academic records and making independent decisions regarding degree planning and credit applicability. + Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials. + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while maintaining attention to detail. + Understanding of FERPA regulations and commitment to maintaining student privacy and confidentiality. Preferred Job Qualifications Preferred qualifications are not required to be considered for this position but are highly desired. Preferred qualifications include: + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and Spanish. + Knowledge of domestic post-secondary evaluation of transfer credit. + Knowledge of academic advising best practices. + Experience supporting the needs of first-generation, limited income, non-traditionally aged students, including students who are parents/caregivers. + Strong interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated by respectful and effective interactions with various constituencies including but not limited to students, faculty, staff, and vendors at all levels. + Knowledge, understanding and experience working with administrative student information systems: preferably Ellucian Banner systems (Banner Student, Banner Document Management and Banner Workflow) and College Source products: TES , DARS – uAchieve (Degree Audit Reporting System), and Transferology. + Experience with CSU academic policies, campus resources and transfer student networks Essential Duties Job Duty CategoryStudent Guidance, Engagement and Outreach Duty/Responsibility + Serve as a primary contact for newly admitted transfer students. + Provide holistic services and referrals to campus resources to meet non-academic needs of students (e.g., housing, health insurance, jobs, etc.) + Conduct individual appointments and provide personalized guidance tailored to student goals. + Respond to complex questions from students, parents, faculty, and staff. + Assess student records, prior coursework and clarify degree requirements. + Assist students with course planning at current institutions to optimize transfer success. + Prepare students for departmental academic advising sessions, including guidance on course substitutions, waivers, and program adjustments. + Guide students in creating Transferology accounts, interpreting transfer articulation and requesting advising appointments. + Plan and engage in campus programs and events that promote transfer student success, including those held during evenings, weekends, and after regular business hours. Percentage Of Time10 Job Duty CategoryCollaboration and Process Improvement Duty/Responsibility + Establish and maintain strong partnerships with campus departments and community organizations to enhance transfer processes and provide comprehensive support for students. + Identify inefficiencies or barriers in transfer student experiences and recommend improvements to supervisor and Registrar Leadership. + Participate in Advising Town Hall meetings and engage in advising network training. + Contribute to strategic planning and enhancement of transfer pathways. Percentage Of Time10 Job Duty CategoryOther Duties as Assigned Duty/Responsibility + Keep up to date on general activities in the Office of the Registrar to ensure Transfer Success Navigator functions coordinate with and meet the needs of department/university functions and priorities. + Read and respond to emails in a timely manner; be responsive to inquiries from other colleges and universities. + Actively participate in trainings and meetings as requested. + Perform other duties as assigned.
