Purpose & Scope: This position is responsible for assisting the farm meet production goals while supervising and training hourly team members effectively. A successful Assistant Manager exhibits great leadership skills by showcasing knowledge and competencies to the team members, developing team members, oversee the administration of vaccinations and treatment with antibiotics, weaned piglet care, weaned piglet transportation and barn management. The Assistant Manager recognizes the contributions of every team member and encourages them to work together, sharing ideas and maintaining good relationships in the execution of production tasks. The Assistant Manager promotes the safety and well-being of all team members. Principle Responsibilities: Monitor team members during production activities to ensure adherence safety proceduresMotivate team members to enhance production quantity and at the same time maintain high production standardsServe as intermediary between team members and management to create healthy communicationAbility to perform necropsy and collection of tissue sample including PUC samplingEvaluate and implement continuous process improvement Swine husbandry: feeding/watering/movingHandling and administering medications and vaccinationsVaccinating and medicating piglets.Cleaning and disinfection of facilities, including removal of mortality and waste.Management of barn environmentInventory management of medications and suppliesMaintaining records of animal production and veterinary products.Complete and submit daily weaned piglet conformance reports, barn/load out mapping and daily medication usageLeading monthly Safety training Animal welfare adherenceAnimal feeding managementMaintenance reported to management Euthanasia of animals when neededProduction/facility housekeeping duties such as cleaning animal housing areas and office area Any other tasks asked by Assistant or ManagerAbility to use computer equipment: hand held devices and electronic wands Required Qualifications:
