Reporting to Coordinator – Process, the Training Specialist – Process Front End will be responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating training programs that ensure safe, efficient, and competent operation of all front-end process plant areas. This includes Crushing, Conveying, Screening, Milling Front-End circuits, and associated infrastructure. The role provides technical leadership, conducts advanced competency assessments, ensures compliance with standards, mentors junior trainers, and drives continuous improvement in operational performance
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and maintain structured training programs for Front-End process areas (Crushing, Conveying, Screening, and associated equipment).
Deliver classroom, simulator, and field-based instruction to operators, controllers, and new recruits.
Ensure training materials reflect current SOPs, metallurgical requirements, and OEM recommendations.
Conduct refresher training and task-specific coaching.
Coordinate and conduct advanced competency assessments for Process Operators (Front-End).
Lead Verification of Competency (VOC) programs across all Front-End circuits.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date learner records and training matrices.
Recommend training interventions for underperforming
Work with Metallurgy, Control Room, and Production teams to identify performance gaps and bottlenecks in Front-End circuits.
Conduct field audits, operator observations, and task cycle evaluations to identify inefficiencies.
Support implementation of operational excellence initiatives (e.g., throughput improvement, downtime reduction, RCA findings).
Assist with process optimization activities through improved operator performance.
Maintain SOPs, training manuals, flowcharts, and competency frameworks for Front-End processes.
Provide updates during audits, inspections, or internal/external reviews.
Promote and comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Minimum Diploma in Metallurgy, Chemical/Process Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related field.
Diploma in Teaching Methodology or equivalent training qualification.
6 years’ experience in process plant operations with a focus on crushing and front-end circuits with at least 3 years in a dedicated training or supervisory role within mineral processing.
Strong communication and coaching skills.
Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced production environment.
Must be a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
