Training Manager

Transdev is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Training Manager to join our team. The Training Manager plays a vital role in developing operators’ skills, delivering training programs, and ensuring that all personnel are fully equipped with the knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
The Training Manager works alongside the location’s Safety Manager to foster a continuous learning environment. They must be able to provide engaging in-person training; whether that’s for new-hire onboarding, behind the wheel trainers, state examiners, new systems and processes, or annual refresher courses. The Training Manager reports to the location’s General Manager.
DUTIES:
+ Designated Administrator for State of California DMV Employer Testing Program (ETP)
+ Remains knowledgeable about the ETP requirements; acts as SME for company.
+ Oversees the employer’s CDL training, testing, and record keeping.
+ Requests renewal and modification of DMV authorization to conduct a licensing test.
+ Acts as an employer liaison with DMV.
Ensures that the coach operator training program meets the Client service contract requirements for training, as well as state and federal regulations, and Transdev training and safety guidelines and standards.
Supervises the training staff, including BTWT, at the location (if applicable). Responsible for coaching, counseling, hiring, and progressive discipline of employees.
Provides classroom and on-vehicle training to new employees, and retraining to existing employees, including retraining as part of disciplinary and performance management efforts.
Investigates training and safety problems with drivers and CDL holders; offers solutions.
Coordinates with locations Safety Manager to administer the fleet safety program at the location, making sure that it is consistent with Transdev safety policy and procedures, which is aimed at reducing motor vehicle accidents and increasing employee safety awareness and knowledge.
Maintains driver, and other safety sensitive employee, qualifications files, as well as training calendar up to date.
Coordinates with locations Safety Manager to ensure the claims process with Transdev’s vehicle and liability insurance carrier(s) at the location is followed and costs are subrogated.
Coordinates with Regional Safety Manager on training initiatives, loss control, claims management responsibilities, etc.
Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Valid CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement.
1+ year(s) previous supervisory experience
2.5+ years as a driver; operator - Coach / Transit Bus (30+ feet)
3-5 years operations experience in a safety sensitive environment inclusive of OSHA, MIS, FMSCA, FTA, DOT and other federal compliance experience.
Must be knowledgeable about the CA DMV ETP requirements
Must meet or exceed the qualifications required for Level II Trainer Certification
Proven adult classroom instructor experience. Experience developing training syllabus a plus.
Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.
Must be able to pass third party tester certification within ninety (90) days of employment, if necessary.
Ability to use standard PC workstation and facility with use of all MS Office applications required; general knowledge of database technology preferred.
Knowledge of Web Risk, or similar computerized reporting systems preferred.
Detail and task oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
Must be a team-players and possess the ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
Superior communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
+ Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
+ Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
+ Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
+ Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
