Our client – a leading global player in the rail safety sector – is looking for Trainee Chief Operators to join their European operations team. In this role, you’ll help keep the railways safe by using advanced Ultrasonic and Eddy Current Testing technology to detect track flaws and ensure infrastructure integrity.

What You’ll Be Doing

Operate high-tech ultrasonic and eddy current rail inspection equipment onboard specialized vehicles

Collect and analyze test data to identify defects and ensure track safety

Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to meet safety and quality standards

Follow testing schedules across Italy (and occasionally elsewhere in Europe)

Complete accurate reports and documentation for every testing run

Work both independently and as part of a rotating team on site

What You’ll Need

Diploma di Esame di Stato or equivalent (with strong grades in English, Maths, and Science)

English (B1) and Italian fluency – written and spoken

Full Italian driving license

Flexibility to travel and stay away from home for up to 4 weeks at a time (accommodation covered)

A passion for working with technology and solving real-world problems

Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and resilience under pressure

Willingness to work night/day shifts and adapt to changing schedules

🌟 Nice to Have (but not required)

Background in rail, NDT, maintenance, or technical fieldwork

Familiarity with mechanical or electrical systems

Previous experience in safety-critical environments

Knowledge of ISO9001, Railway Group Standards, or similar

PCN/EN9712 or ASNT Level 2 (Ultrasonics/Eddy Current) – full training provided if not yet certified
