Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Traffic Engineer to join our team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Traffic Flow Analysis: Conduct studies on traffic patterns, volume, and capacity to determine the best solutions for improving road efficiency and safety.
Design of Traffic Control Devices: Develop plans for traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and other control devices to optimize safety and flow.
Intersection & Corridor Design: Design and review intersection layouts, channelization, and corridor signal progression—optimizing phasing, splits, and cycle lengths to minimize delays.
Signal Timing Optimization: Use SYNCHRO, VISSIM, HCS and field-collected data to develop and implement coordinated timing plans that improve progression along signalized corridors and highways.
Safety Assessment & Improvement: Analyze crash data and perform safety audits; recommend and design engineering treatments, signage, or ITS interventions to reduce risk.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, traffic management centers, consultants, and contractors to ensure solutions align with regional plans and community needs.
Field Operations Support: Lead site visits for traffic counts, turning‐movement studies, validation of timing implementations, and troubleshooting field issues.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
Minimum 4 years of progressive traffic engineering experience, including signal timing and roadway design.
Proficiency with traffic modeling and analysis software—SYNCHRO, VISSIM, HCS.
Deep understanding of MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book standards, and local traffic regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at interpreting complex data and simulation outputs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; proven experience preparing technical reports and delivering presentations to clients and agencies.
