The Traffic and Traffic Diversion Expert will serve as a senior technical specialist responsible for the planning, design, assessment, and implementation of traffic management and diversion strategies for major road and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous movement of traffic during construction and operational phases while minimizing disruption to road users and surrounding communities.
The expert will provide technical leadership in developing traffic management plans, diversion schemes, temporary traffic arrangements, and mobility strategies in compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
Your roleTraffic Management and Diversion Planning
Lead the development and review of Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), Traffic Diversion Plans (TDPs), and Temporary Traffic Control Plans (TTCPs) for major infrastructure and road projects.Design safe and efficient traffic diversion schemes to accommodate construction activities while maintaining optimal traffic flow and minimizing disruption.Develop phasing strategies and staging plans to support construction sequencing and project delivery.Ensure traffic diversion plans consider safety, accessibility, emergency access, and operational continuity.Technical Analysis and Traffic Engineering
Conduct traffic impact assessments, capacity analysis, and traffic modeling to evaluate diversion effectiveness.Analyze traffic volumes, travel patterns, intersection performance, and road network capacity to support diversion planning.Review contractor proposals and provide technical recommendations for traffic management and diversion improvements.Ensure traffic control devices, signage, markings, and temporary infrastructure are properly designed and implemented.Project Delivery and Implementation Oversight
Provide technical oversight during implementation of traffic diversions, ensuring compliance with approved plans and safety standards.Conduct site inspections and audits to verify effectiveness and safety of traffic diversion measures.Identify risks, operational constraints, and potential conflicts, and develop mitigation strategies.Support construction teams to ensure traffic diversions align with project schedules and phasing.Stakeholder Coordination and Approvals
Liaise with clients, local authorities, traffic police, contractors, and stakeholders to obtain approvals for traffic diversion schemes.Participate in coordination meetings to ensure alignment of traffic management strategies with project requirements.Provide technical guidance and support to multidisciplinary teams.Compliance, Safety, and Quality Assurance
Ensure traffic management and diversion plans comply with national regulations, international standards, and traffic safety requirements.Ensure proper implementation of safety measures for road users, pedestrians, and construction personnel.Conduct technical reviews and ensure quality assurance throughout project execution.Documentation and Reporting
Prepare and review traffic management reports, diversion drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.Maintain proper documentation of approved diversion plans, changes, and implementation records.Provide technical reports, progress updates, and recommendations to project leadership.About youQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline.Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering or Traffic Engineering is preferred.Professional membership with a recognized engineering institution is preferred.Experience
Minimum 15 years of professional experience in traffic engineering, traffic management, and detour planning.Proven experience in major road, infrastructure, or urban development projects.Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing traffic management and detour plans for complex construction projects. Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, and government authorities.Technical Competencies
Strong expertise in traffic engineering, traffic management, and detour design.Experience in traffic impact assessments, traffic analysis, and traffic modelling.Proficiency in traffic analysis software such as SYNCHRO, SIDRA, VISSIM, or equivalent.Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering design tools.Strong knowledge of traffic control devices, road safety standards, and temporary traffic management.Professional Skills
