Responsibilities:

 

Carry out installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and fault finding of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems

Perform HV switching, isolation, earthing, and restoration activities in accordance with approved

procedures and permits

Maintain and repair substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and power distribution equipment

Conduct routine inspections, condition monitoring, preventative maintenance, and lubrication activities

Identify defects, raise maintenance notifications, and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability

Support breakdown response, shutdown activities, and planned maintenance execution

Ensure all electrical work complies with MBCC standards, statutory regulations, and OEM requirements

Participate in risk assessments, JHAs, PTW, and LOTO processes prior to task execution

Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and history in SAP PM or CMMS

Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, and Projects teams to achieve safe and reliable outcomes

Actively promote and comply with MBCC safety standards, Life-Saving Rules, and Zero Harm culture

Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and technical guidance to local tradesmen to build capability and competency

 

 

 

 

Qualification Requirements:

Recognized Degree, Diploma, or Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical Trade

Certified High Voltage Electrical Technician with HV switching and isolation authorization (preferred)

Formal training in High Voltage switching, earthing, and isolation practices, including awareness of arc flash hazards

Certification or formal training in LOTO and electrical safety

Trained in Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single line diagrams, and schematics

Valid EWP and Forklift operator licenses are preferred, or willingness to obtain them if required

Experience and Skills Requirements:

Minimum 5 years combined experience in electrical maintenance within fixed plant, mining, or heavy industrial environments

Proven experience maintaining HV, MV, and LV electrical systems and associated equipment

Hands-on experience with substations, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution systems

Strong understanding of HSSE requirements and safe systems of work

Experience working under Permit to Work (PTW) and LOTO systems

Ability to diagnose electrical faults and implement effective corrective actions

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Well-developed time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Competent in the use of maintenance management systems such as SAP PM or similar CMMS

Willingness to mentor and support the development of local tradesmen
